NDC: Dickson Not Working for APC
ABUJA, October 5, 2026 — The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed allegations that its National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, is secretly working with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to undermine the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party described the allegations as false and malicious, insisting that the former Bayelsa State governor remains fully committed to the NDC and its presidential candidates, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Monday, the NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, rejected claims that Dickson had entered into any form of political arrangement with the ruling party.
Director said there was neither a secret nor an open agreement between Dickson and the APC, adding that the senator’s political record and commitment to the opposition did not support such allegations.
“Our National Leader, Distinguished Senator Seriake Dickson, is not a front for the ruling APC or anyone else. He has no secret or open deal whatsoever with the ruinous and diabolical APC regime,” the statement said.
The controversy comes as political parties and opposition groups intensify preparations ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with the NDC positioning the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket as its alternative to the ruling APC.
The party further argued that Dickson had opportunities to join the APC but instead chose to remain with opposition figures working to strengthen the NDC and challenge the ruling party at the next general election.
The NDC maintained that attempts to portray Dickson as working against the party were aimed at creating division within its ranks as preparations for 2027 gather momentum.
